Oasis Health · For every child
When a child is sick,
the cost should not decide.
A fever, an infection or an injury can keep a child out of school for weeks, and families often wait to see a doctor because of the cost. Oasis Health gives each child a year of health insurance, so they can be treated at a clinic or hospital as soon as they need it.
Why it matters
What holds children back
- Families put off going to the clinic until a child is very ill.
- One hospital bill can take the money set aside for food or school.
- Long illnesses mean long absences from school.
What it pays for
- A year of health insurance for each child, renewed every year
- Registration and the insurance card
- Outpatient visits, tests and medicines covered by the chosen plan
- Help for families to use the card at their nearest facility
How it works
Careful, local and recorded.
Through a licensed broker
We arrange cover through a licensed insurance broker, who compares the National Health Insurance Fund and other licensed insurers and finds the best plan for children.
Registered in each child’s name
Each child gets their own card, registered with the guardian’s consent.
Shown how to use it
We explain to each family where the card is accepted and what it covers.
Renewed every year
Cover is renewed for every child who stays in our programmes.
What we look for
What success looks like
- Every child we support has a valid health card
- Families use the card when a child is sick
- Fewer school days lost to illness
Questions
Which insurance do the children get?
The plan is chosen with a licensed broker each year. The National Health Insurance Fund’s children’s cover (Toto Afya Kadi) is one of the options we compare.
How much does it cost?
We budget $75 per child for a year. The exact price depends on the plan and on whether children are registered as a group or one by one.
